Welcome to Sam's Christmas Page!

(Click the link to hear the kids' Christmas greetings if you have sound card installed on your computer)

And welcome to the "Snow Scene" in Singapore (see photo below)! Who says it does not snow in Singapore? See, it did! Right here in Singapore, as evidenced in this photo!

Just kidding…… as you may have already guessed, this is a micrograph. Recently I'm doing some studies of the corrosion behavior of computer disks under acid attack: Actually what you are looking at is some corrosion pattern accidentally obtained by the edge of a magnetic disk corroded with hydrocloride acid. The feature is magnified by about 100 times. Since Christmas is here, I named this photo "Snow Scene in Singapore". Hope you like it.

Well, the real corrosion patterns are evenly more lovely. Let me share with you just one of them: The Flower. Well, actually I think it more looks like chrysanthemum, don't you think? (The details would be too technical in a place like here. But let me know if you do become interested in the technical details).

Sheila still "works" at home running the family. And I'm still in Gintic Institute of Manufacturing Technology doing researches in thin films (as you have seen above). Jessica has finished her Secondary 3, and is about to enter Secondary 4 before sitting for the "O-Level" or Secondary School Graduation Examination next year. She just passed her Grade 6 piano exam. James will be in Primary 2 after the New Year. James has also started his piano lessons.

Recently I made two trips, one was to the States for a meeting and the other was a cruise with my family and friends. For those of you who were not with us in the trip, had I have the choice, I would love to have you along, to see what I see, and feel what I feel. Since that was not possible, I jogged down some travel notes together with some pictures, in place of the traditional Christmas Card/Letter, to share with you, as my way of Christmas rekindle. For those who were onboard with us, this could well serve as a happy reminder...
